We define the objects around us by what they are and are not. I create work that uses elements such as enamel, fabric, and wood juxtaposed together in order to define properties inherent to each material. I use the techniques of chasing and repoussé, to manipulate metal into works that are representational, while still holding true to the materiality of metal. By juxtaposing the formal characteristics, I deconstruct and show how the elements are similar in terms of their history, origin, and physical properties.
